Electric Drums VS Acoustic Drums

Those of us who play music have either been on a stage, or at church, or in someone one's music room in their house and there they sit over in a corner, the electric drums.  They're looking at you as if to say, "You can play me.  I make hardly any noise like by buddy the acoustic drums.  You can even play me with a set of headphones on and I won't wake up the family at 12:00 at night while you're jamming to some random tune."  This is a funny thought, but we those of us who are drummers have all had this thought.  What would be a better practice application?  I would have to say it depends on the tolerance of the family members or roommates in the house. While electric drums are the best option for noise control, they do not have the same feel to me as acoustic drums.  The acoustic set is best for live application.  It provides you the ability to dynamically control the stage atmosphere just by your stick height and foot control alone.  It is not pleasing to the eye as you're sitting there 5,000 people strong with everyone rocking their individual instrument, and you look on stage at a guy or girl who is perched behind a wall of plastic and rubber. It's just not supposed to be that way because without a sound system, electric drums are dead.  With an acoustic set, sound system or not, it can still be played.  Long live the acoustic tubs!
