A Perfect Society
Let's talk about the perfect society. Is there really such a thing? According to Thomas More, the author of Utopia, there is. But how much of a reality could this possibly be? More describes multiple scenarios in society based on everyone working their fare share and sharing everything they made. This would lead to everyone having exactly what they need, eliminating the need for social classes. He also goes on to break down each class of people based on how they live and act. It could potentially have problems, but he fails to see this even in the perfect society. He is looking through this world with rose colored glasses. He fails to see that some people are still mean even when they have everything they need. This is coming from a person who was friends with the king, until the king beheaded him when he refused to see him as the head of the church. It's hard for me to believe this would actually be possible because of how society from day one has always been a selfish, backstabbing, self centered people. We can track through history how people collaborate to take over villages, kingdoms, and possibly the world. It is never enough and people are never satisfied. They always want more and they're always trying to think of new ways to accomplish a goal. As much as we would like to convince others of our own beliefs, we all think differently. So my question is, which is a hot topic in our little kingdom called the United States of America, is socialism really the right way?
